I listen. I begin by listening to the client, the program requirements and the existing space, and then more broadly to trends, local culture and building codes. So many factors play into how we experience a space, and I believe that listening is the most important way to shape that experience.
Once those voices are heard, I dig into the concept. A well developed concept informs all aspects of a project. For me, seeing the connection between each phase of a project and the concept is magical.
